“I was so busy that I couldn’t get to it.”
This is something we keep telling ourselves every time we can’t find time to do things we love. Whether it’s working on personal projects, or writing something or reading that book. That excuse works: puts us off the hook.
On the other hand, every time there’s a client deadline, most of us manage to finish our work before that. Even if it means working late into the night, sometimes multiple nights in a row.
So in reality, it was not really about not finding time. It’s all about being honest to ourselves about the fact that it was never our priority to begin with. If it was really important we would have done it.
So, starting today, I’m retiring that excuse. It’ll take sometime for me to get used to it, but at least I’ll make a conscious effort to stop lying to myself.
